Are you a friendly, positive person who enjoys talking with and helping the public? The North Umpqua Ranger District is looking for volunteers to help staff the Colliding Rivers Visitor Center on Saturdays and Sundays this summer. Located on the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, this site sees visitors from around the world, many of them on their way to nearby Crater Lake National Park. The main duty of the volunteers is to help answer the public's questions (by phone and in person) as related to surrounding public lands. Volunteers will also sell maps of the Umpqua National Forest as well as pass out brochure of our local attractions, including the North Umpqua Trail and the many waterfalls found on the forest. Hours of operation are 9am to 5pm. Volunteers can choose to work a full day shift or a half day, and they can decide on which weekends they want to participate.
HOUSING & AMENITIES Description: There is no housing on the site, but there are a few RV parks in the vicinity including Whistler's Bend and Douglas County Fairgrounds.
