The Battle of Cowpens took place on a frigid, early morning January 17, 1781. Daniel Morgan’s 600 Continental soldiers, with the aid of approximately 1000 militia, were able to defeat the dreaded Banastre “Bloody Ban” Tarleton in a significant Revolutionary War battle that lasted about only 20 minutes. The Battle of Cowpens was significant in turning the tide of the American Revolution in favor of the American Patriot forces.
